While there are a variety of fish at our
destinations, at Dream Drifter Adventures we
like to catch big fish and our
main focus is on chasing large steelhead and salmon.

Our
steelhead season kicks off in mid November with the hatchery origin
steelies that will run through mid January followed by the much
anticipated native-wild steelhead. The native fish average 12 to 18
lbs. with some fish exceeding the 20 lb. mark. |

and fishing
becomes excellent mid February through April. Low clear water gives an extra
advantage to target these fish on the fly. As for keeping fish we have no
problem with you harvesting your limit of hatchery steelhead, which in
most waters are 2-3 fish per day. We do encourage catch and release of
all native-wild steelhead as their numbers are getting smaller every
year, we're trying to do our part to preserve this species. With a good
camera, tape measure, and scale you can capture the essence of your
trophy fish for a taxidermist to replicate for you. |

After catching steelhead all spring it's time to move on
and start fishing for salmon and we like to do that in
Alaska, where millions of salmon return each year to
spawn. Alaska offers five types of salmon: King/Chinook
who can weigh up to 120 lbs, Coho, also known as Silvers
due to their bright chrome color who average 15-20
lbs, Chum, aggresive 10-15 lb. fish that are |

sure to put up a great battle at the end of your
line, Sockeye, a streamlined fish averaging 7 lbs, and Pink who weigh up
to 5 lbs. and are very plentiful. With this kind of variety and bounty
no wonder fishermen travel to Alaska from all over the world to catch
trophy size salmon. Get one of these on the end of your line and you'll
be hooked for life! There's nothing like fighting a big fish on a fly
rod.
Back on the Olympic Peninsula, fall marks the beginning of the Silver
Salmon run, hard fighting fish averaging 10-12 lbs. that offer excellent
fishing throughout the month of October. Kings up to 40 lbs. also run
during October and on through November, making fall an exciting season. |
